A 4 year old Irish Spotted female, sweet dispostion, being spayed next week...Nina had a tough time with her surgery...but she's eating and wagging her tail and is just happy and friendly...once healed we will be deciding on what's best for Nina...stay tuned!
Bertha came to us a week ago...a hardship case ... owner surrendered ... skin issues are not new to us...she is a sweetheart and deserves whatever can be done for her...thankfully she has no mange mites...we are treating her for Lyme disease....her blood work shows that she is anemic...we are working on getting her anemia under control then we can proceed with meds for her other issues...we will keep you updated on her progress.
UPDATE...Bertha has gone from a 13% to a 30% PCV... normal for range to indicate NO anemia is 36% ... we are getting there! Another blood test next Monday and hopefully the girl will be hitting the normal range! It's been two weeks and she is actually looking better and has more energy! YAY Bertha!
Owner surrender 3 year old black female...we just had her spayed and will post more about her once we get to know her...stay tuned! Update...Marilyn is still with us ...Marilyn is currently being treated for Heartworm...she should be able to go to her new home in about four weeks.
Marilyn's final heartworm treatment was last Wednesday...as of today, 7/21/14, she is being kept calm and quiet.
Marilyn as of 8/30/14 is ready for a new home...she is not good with cats...great with kids....and looking for a forever family.
Apollo the Lab
Still looking for the right home for Apollo...would prefer to be an only dog...would love the opportunity to swim...an amazing dog...never stops wagging his tail!
Apollo is a 5 to 6 year old black Labrador...gentle, great with kids, cats, other dogs, ALL people...surrendered due to owner relocating, Apollo has some skin issues that we will get under control before he goes to his new home. Much vet work done today January 20, 2014...waiting on blood test results to determine treatment plan... Please watch his progress on our site!
UPDATE....Apollo had an almost nonexistent thyroid function...and was 25 pounds under weight...after a couple of months of soloxine for his thyroid (a very inexpensive thyroid supplement) and good nutrition....he is right where he should be...his hair has grown in quickly... a few spots left...we are allergy testing currently...we have no doubt that when he leaves That Newfoundland Place...he will go on to lead a completely normal life with a minimum of medication...he is SUCH a good boy...and now we know he LOVES to swim!!!
We are still looking for the right home for Apollo. He has become one magnificent boy! He looks great and behaves like a champ! Stays right with you...comes when you call...amazing! He needs a home where he has access to swimming ... he will make a great addition to YOUR family!
Here's an updated picture of Apollo the Labrador! What a difference good food, exercise, and thyroid medication make! Such an easy and inexpensive fix! He is like a different dog!
